2010 is a special year for the annual Corrida Goyesca and the Real Maestranza de Ronda as both celebrate the 225th anniversary of the construction of Ronda’s Plaza de Toros, a nationally protected monument with a fascinating history.
Montecorto and Serrato to get Independence from Ronda
The two small villages of Montecorto and Serrato, currently part of the city of Ronda for administrative purposes will soon be incorporated as independent municipalities within Málaga province.
Andalucía’s local autonomy law was recently overhauled removing the minimum requirement of 2500 residents before a community could be incorporated, and will become law during July 2010, meaning that Montecorto and Serrato now have the opportunity to manage their own affairs.
Real Maestranza Sponsors Concerts in Ronda
The Real Maestranza de Ronda, owners of the iconic bullring in Ronda, will next week (5th to the 9th July 2010) be sponsoring a week of music and conferences adopting the theme “Música y representación” – and have invited several exciting performers to Ronda, including Ensemble Cosmos 21, Pilar Jurado and Duncan Gifford, Aba Taano, and Radio No-Man’s Land.
