The Camino del Desfiladero del Tajo Gorge Walk in Ronda

The Camino del Desfiladero del Tajo in Ronda

Important: The full Camino del Desfiladero del Tajo Gorge walkway is not yet open. Visitors can currently walk from Plaza María Auxiliadora down to the base of the Puente Nuevo. The second section of the walkway, which will eventually continue through the gorge towards the Arab Baths, remains closed.

To get there just cross the Puente Nuevo after the Parador hotel into the old town and then take calle Tenorio opposite the painted tiles of Ronda Romántica. (Entrance fee is 5 euros. Make sure you have a payment card as they don’t accept cash.)

Ronda, the City of Dreams

Hotel San Francisco in Ronda

Ronda is one of the most spectacular towns in Andalucía, dramatically perched above the El Tajo gorge in the mountains of Málaga province. Famous for its Puente Nuevo bridge, historic old town and extraordinary landscapes, Ronda is much more than a place to stop for a photograph.

The city is compact enough to explore on foot, but there is plenty to discover beyond the famous bridge: historic palaces and churches, the old Arab Baths, Spain’s oldest bullring, viewpoints over the gorge, traditional restaurants and walking routes into the surrounding countryside.

Ronda also makes an excellent base for exploring the Serranía de Ronda, with its white villages, natural parks, mountains and wildlife.

I’ve lived in this part of Andalucía for around 20 years, and this guide is intended as an introduction to Ronda and a starting point for exploring the much more detailed information available here at Ronda Today.
