But quite a few people who visit Ronda have a particular desire to stay in the old part of town, with its history, narrow cobbled streets and romantic stories. This is the protected historic quarter of Ronda, where very little modern development is allowed, making it a unique place to stay. From here, you can step outside your hotel and walk to the Puente Nuevo, the Plaza Duquesa de Parcent, the Mondragón Palace and many of the city’s most important attractions, all while soaking up the atmosphere of one of Andalucía’s most beautiful historic towns.
Ronda’s old town extends from the Puente Nuevo along Calle Armiñan until the old walls and Almocabar Gate, and down as far as the Arab Baths, so we have included the Hotel Alavera de los Baños even though other travel guides might consider it outside the old town.

Are you looking for vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free food in Ronda? There are options available, although you may need to ask rather than rely on what’s printed on the menu.
Over the years, I’ve had quite a few emails from visitors asking where they can eat in Ronda if they follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, or need to avoid gluten. I visited around 25 bars and restaurants to find out what was available. I didn’t eat in every one, but the visits gave me a useful idea of how willing local restaurants are to accommodate different dietary requirements.
The main advice is simple: ask before ordering, and explain any dietary requirements clearly. Many places are happy to adapt dishes, even when the options aren’t obvious from the menu. If you need gluten-free food or have a strict dietary requirement, it’s also worth checking exactly how the food is prepared.
