The Ronda Fair, also known as the Feria de Pedro Romero, will take place from September 2nd to 7th, 2025. This week-long festival blends history, music, dance, gastronomy, and colorful traditions, creating an unforgettable experience for both locals and visitors. The main evening activities are held at the Ángel Harillo fairground, near the fire station and the road to San Pedro, while Ronda’s historic center comes alive with daytime celebrations during the Feria de Día.
Although the traditional Corrida Goyesca bullfight will not take place this year due to renovations at the Plaza de Toros, the fair offers a full lineup of cultural and festive events.
History of the Feria
The Feria de Pedro Romero is one of the most iconic celebrations of the Serranía region, dating back to the 19th century. Originally held in the San Francisco neighborhood, it moved to Barrio del Mercadillo in 1881, eventually surpassing the older Feria de Mayo. In 1954, to mark the bicentennial of Pedro Romero’s birth, the fair officially adopted his name. Today, it is Ronda’s main annual festival, celebrated for its lively atmosphere and rich cultural programming.
Highlights of the Fair
Colorful Opening Parade
The festival kicks off with a spectacular Cabalgata, featuring floats, traditional costumes, and live music. The streets of Ronda fill with cheering crowds, colorful decorations, and a festive ambiance that sets the tone for the week.
Concurso de Enganches
On September 6th at 11:00 AM, the Concurso Internacional de Enganches takes center stage. The event begins at Plaza Duquesa de Parcent and follows a scenic route through Ronda, showcasing a spectacular parade of elegantly decorated carriages and finely trained horses. This competition celebrates traditional horsemanship and carriage artistry, drawing both local enthusiasts and international participants. Visitors can enjoy the graceful pageantry, vibrant costumes, and the festive atmosphere as the procession winds through the historic streets of the city.

Feria de Día (Day Fair)
The historic center transforms into a pedestrian paradise, with bars spilling onto the streets, live music, dancing, and festive “casetas”. Paper lanterns and decorations often drape the alleys, creating a magical daytime atmosphere for visitors.

Feria de Noche (Night Fair)
At the Ángel Harillo fairground, evenings come alive with amusement rides, food stalls, and entertainment for all ages. The fairground is often illuminated, and fireworks light the night sky on the opening night.

Spanish Guitar Concerts
Visitors can enjoy live Spanish guitar performances, experiencing the rich melodies and passionate rhythms that reflect Andalusia’s musical heritage.

Equestrian Events
The XVI Concurso Indumentaria y Atalaje Ecuestre is a centerpiece of the Ronda Fair, celebrating the city’s longstanding equestrian heritage. Participants don traditional attire and demonstrate the art of harnessing and handling horses with elegance and precision, bringing to life centuries-old customs. Visitors can admire the graceful movements of the horses, the ornate carriages, and the attention to detail in the costumes, all set against the vibrant backdrop of the fairgrounds.

The Damas Goyescas
Since the inception of the Corrida Goyesca in 1954, the Damas Goyescas have served as official representatives of Ronda. Wearing elegant, Goya-inspired costumes, they participate in parades and cultural events, adding historical charm and elegance to the Feria.
So exceptionally popular have been the Damas Goyesca, that in 2009, a bronze statue of a Goyesca lady was inaugurated in Alameda park, directly across from the statue of Pedro Romero, Ronda’s most famous bullfighter. Actually this statue is the start point for the Ronda Today audio guide tour.
Every year a president of the Damas Goyesca is chosen, usually she is a woman well respected in Ronda, someone who has earned the affection of the people of Ronda, and who is held up as a model of womanhood for others to emulate.
At the same time, fourteen younger Rondeñas are picked to support the president in her duties, typically the younger Damas Goyesca will be in their teens, and of course chosen for their beauty, as well as their grace.
