The importance of tourism in Ronda cannot be understated, aside from Unicaja, the tourism industry is the largest employer in the town, and most definitely the largest employer in the Serranía, either directly or indirectly, yet people who work in the industry have needed to leave the area to receive training and certification.

Chocolat opened some years ago on a side street and immediately attracted a devoted local clientele. Now open on c/La Bola, the discreet sign “Sven – Chocolatero” draws curious visitors as well.
The narrow store front barely hints at the treasures within. As you proceed along the hallway, you’ll see that there’s ice cream (normal enough), then a wide selection of loose teas from rooibus and herbal types to the black and green teas from India and China, then whole-bean coffees, and a glass case of chocolates (bonbones de chocolat), each shaped bonbon a different flavor.

General Strike in Spain Fizzles in Ronda
The national general strike today which has seen large groups of protestors in major cities such as Madrid and Barcelona failed to attract much attentuon in Ronda, will almost all shops, banks, restaurants and offices open for business today.
Ground Clearance Underway at Site of Eroski Shopping Centre
Earth moving crews have this week begun excavations at the old football ground in Ronda in anticipation of beginning construction of the new Eroski shopping centre before the end of the year.
Valued at between 110-120 million Euros the shopping centre is expected to provide several hundred jobs during the construction phase and as many as 1,300 when operations begin.
Ronda’s Deputy Mayor Slams Graffiti Appearing in the City
Yesterday it was brought to the attention of Ronda Today that graffiti artists have been spray painting on walls and rock retaining walls in the Casgo Antiguo (Ronda’s main tourist district), primarily in the area of the Paseo Blas Infante and Calle Santo Domingo on buildings owned by the Casa del Rey Moro.
